Why do some of our patients see a Myotherapist before their Chiropractic adjustments?
If you have been to BCNC recently you will be aware that we offer an array of services to help you get the best out of your health! Often we have found that a mixture of these services can help you optimally respond to the treatments you are receiving .
This is why!
Generally, when people come in they are coming to get out of pain, work through an injury or achieve more on the sporting field. All of these things come with many components that have led you to come into the practice.
For example: a patient presenting with back pain can come in for a number of reasons - such as general wear and tear from work and over exerting your muscles causing tightness which can lead to subluxation/misalignment of the spine . The body has to compensate for the high amount of stress placed upon it. Remedial massage can be utilised to ease the general muscle tightness and help release pain-radiating trigger points and tight bands. Chiropractic added, in addition to this, will help address areas of your spine that aren’t functioning to their best. Adjusting these spinal areas can allow for your body to better cope with the physical stressors being placed on your body. Recent studies have shown that having a chiropractor adjust your spine can increase proprioception (your body knowing where it is in space), which is great in terms of injury prevention. Your body has a better navigation system as to when to stabilise correctly or make sure your movements are as smooth as possible .This allows you to cope best with the day’s physical stress on your body.
Is co-management right for you?
To get the best results from your time here at BCNC it is often best to receive a multi-modal approach to your health!
What to expect in sessions where you are seeing two practitioners?
Traditionally, in this approach, we have you see one of our massage therapists or myotherapists first. This aims to achieve reduction in muscle tension, increasing your joint mobility, decreasing inflammation around musculature and reducing general pain. After your massage therapy session. one of our chiropractors will then check your spine .and, If required, the chiropractor will adjust the subluxated/misaligned areas of the spine. This complements the remedial massage session as it helps further promote joint mobility, release muscular tension and ,as stated above, improve your bodies general awareness of where it is in space.
Your pain management and general health can be fast tracked when you are receiving the best care and working on improving more than one facet of your physical health at once.
