Getting Over the Winter Blues
Are you feeling those winter chills? Coats, beanies, gloves and scarves are all recipes to keep you warm and snug trying to avoid the dreaded cold and flu! Did you know that Remedial Massage could also greatly benefit your goals in preventing injury and keeping up good circulation in the cold months!
Benefits of Remedial Massage
There are many great benefits gained from Remedial Massage. The ones that stand out the most during the winter months is the increase in blood circulation and moving the lymphatic system. There are many important elements to these two systems. Oxygen, hormones and blood cells need to be delivered to where they need to be in order to help keep us healthy and fighting off disease. Speaking of hormones… Remedial Massage helps your overall state of well being as it makes you feel better! Massage therapy releases serotonin and endorphins, relieving stress and making you feel great!
Who doesn’t like a massage? Most do!
Now we are not saying that you don't have to go and exercise and keep moving because Remedial Massage will not do it all for you! Massage is important for injury prevention. Tight muscles can create a potential for injury. It is a great idea to have a qualified massage therapist assess your muscular system and loosen up tight muscles, and then provide exercises to strengthen weak muscles.
Stay hydrated!
Another important thing to remember to do in winter is keep drinking water and stay hydrated, it is so cold, it is easy to forget to drink water! Hydrated muscles are healthy muscles and healthy muscles can contract properly hence still aiding in the importance of good circulation to make sure all those healthy nutrients and hormones are being delivered to the right places! So as much as that nice mug of hot cocoa with the little marshmallows sounds like a great option, try to choose a big glass of water instead! Below are the daily recommendations of water intake.
